ACME is awarded 2nd prize for its office building design proposal in Nollendorfplatz. The building's expressive sculptural facade draws inspiration from Nollendorfplatz's rich cultural history, in particular the avant-garde work of theatre director and producer, Erwin Piscator.

Originally designed by Lenné, Nollendorfplatz was once celebrated as one of Berlin's most beautiful squares. The construction of the Nollendorfplatz subway station with its elevated viaduct was a significant change on the layout of the square in the 20th century. The subway brought a diverse cultural and nightlife to the square which became the centre of the avant-garde. Nowhere else in Berlin was there has such a density of pubs and dance halls, bars and exclusive establishments for a diverse crowd.
