The proposed Victoria Gate Hotel will sit adjacent to Victoria Gate in Leeds City Centre replacing the temporary surface car parking opposite the Leeds Playhouse.
The hotel is part of a wider regeneration strategy seeking to bring ground floor activities to an area currently dominated by traffic. The building will form an ideal link between the consolidated city centre and the Quarry Hill cultural quarter with a use type that is complementary with the leisure, business and retail activities in the surroundings.

Designed by Victoria Gate’s architects ACME, the proposed façade will place the building within the Victoria Gate ‘family’ by using consistent design cues and a common DNA.
The building massing has been conceived to sit alongside and complement the surrounding Leeds City Centre landmarks such as Kirkgate market, Eastgate terrace, Appleyard Filling station and Leeds Minster. The hotel fenestration is designed to form a diagonal grid pattern similar to the John Lewis and the multi storey car parking facades as well as the arcades’ interior. This is achieved by modulating windows' dimension and introducing variations in size to form a ‘pixelated’ version of the pattern. Each window will be framed by metallic reveals enhancing their reflectivity. A contrasting rendered facade will emphasize the windows geometric pattern readability providing a seamless background that is textured and three dimensional.

The Victoria Gate Hotel will feature 205 spacious rooms, an on-site gym and conferencing facilities targetinng business travellers and culture consumers. A new contemporary bar and restaurant will be located on the ground floor for both guests and visitors, expanding the current food complementary to the expanding Leeds Cultural Quarter.
